Driver Hurt In I-81 Work Zone Tractor-Trailer Crash: PennDOT

A box truck driver was hurt in a crash with a tractor-trailer on Interstate 81 on Friday morning, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation officials told Daily Voice.

The multiple-vehicle crash happened on I-81 South near exit 66 by Front Street in Harrisburg around 5:45 a.m. on Sept. 8, according to PennDOT spokesperson Fritzi Schreffler.

The box truck slammed into the back of the tractor-trailer "at the beginning of a left lane restriction for a work zone," Schreffler said. 

The roadway was shuttered across all southbound lanes from Exit 67 "across the length of the bridge," Schreffler explained.

The box truck driver was injured, the extent of the injuries or if any others hurt is unknown.

The roadway began reopening around 7:10 a.m.
